Piccalo

Emily had a goal this year to learn the Piccolo. She chose to play the flute in band because she learned that you have to play flute in order to learn the piccolo. The school has several piccolos and each chance she had to go to the band room for plus period she would get in line to play the piccolo.  She found it hard to use because it made her out of breath. She said that it caused her ears to ring after she would play it. But she loved being able to hit the super high notes.

For the final band concert she wanted to get one of the Piccolo solos. She had a goal to play piccolo in a concert and this would be her last opportunity for 7th grade. She went into plus period as usual and got in line for the piccolo. She was 3rd in line and was ready to ask Mr. Earl for the Piccolo but unfortunately another girl cut in front of her in line and asked for a piccolo. Mr. Earl knowing that Emily historically had asked for the piccolo turned to her and said "Do you want a Piccolo as well?" She said yes and then learned that although the school had 4 piccolo's one had been broken and was being fixed. He asked the young lady that cut in line if she and Emily could share it and use it for 1/2 of plus period so they each would get a chance.  Although the young lady said yes this is not what happened. Emily ended up getting the piccolo right as the cleanup time started so she didn't get to practice for the concert try outs. She was so disappointed.

On the day of the try out she was not going to try because she felt like she hadn't gotten to practice enough and wanted to give up. Luckily she had an amazing friend, Sydney McClellen who encouraged her to try out anyway. She tried out and felt good about her effort and Mr. Earl didn't make a decision about who would get to do the solo.

Because of the 4 girls and 3 piccolos problem Emily's dad wanted to help her succeed all he could and went and rented her a piccolo for the try out and concert. Because Emily had her own piccolo all the girls got a chance to play and Emily got to accomplish her goal.

Temple and Priesthood preparation class

Before I first went to the Temple I had a goal to find my own family names to baptize.

As I was finding names I felt the spirit because I know that these people needed my help to get baptized and when I was able to go to the Temple for the first time and baptize the names I found it felt so cool and special, because I was able to help these people get one step closer to entering the Celestial kingdom.

I testify that finding your own names to take to the Temple is a amazing and spiritual experience and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen
